Be Ready When the Luck Happens: A Memoir
By Ina Garten
What the book is about
This is a light and entertaining book yet it really captures how driven Ina Garten is as a businesswoman. It is a memoir that is full of life, marriage, and business lessons yet told in such a fun, playful tone. It travels to different places, like France and the Hamptons, and is full of wonderful food stories. Would be a must read on a vacation!
Why I loved it
The relationship between Jeffrey and Ina is really admirable. They supported one another’s dreams and at times had to make sacrifices for the betterment of the other. I love Barefoot Contessa’s cooking shows and it really captures the back story of Ina’s life and how she got there. It is a career, relationship, and travel book in disguise and I found it so heartwarming I couldn’t put it down. Get this book.
Don’t Believe Everything You Think
by Joseph Nguyen
What the book is about
This book discusses how our thoughts can lead to suffering. We have a tendency to overthink which takes us down a negative road. It provides gentle guidance and techniques in mindfulness and how to deal with these runaway thoughts.
Why I loved it
As a person who tends to be an overthinking worry wart, it really calms my anxiety. It taught me about the mind and the ability for thinking to take you down a negative path. It gave me permission to not have to think my problems away. When stuff happens, I don’t have to think about it. I can just ‘be’ with it. In the short time, since I’ve read it, I’ve experienced more peace of mind. I only wish I would have ready this book sooner in life. Get this book.
